Connector Connections Walk -Vancouver x WALK30

Keep WALK30 moving and join us for a relaxing walk as we experience the improved walking and cycling connections across the Granville Bridge together. Starting at Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain Station at 12:00pm, we’ll follow the new Pacific Street Bikeway as we walk up and over the Granville Connector, taking in the urban landscapes and mountain views along the way all while logging some strong walking minutes for WALK30! 

Our walk concludes at the famous Granville Island where you can grab a bite to eat, relax, connect, and take in the waterfront views.

WALK30 Walk with the NW Mayor

On Thursday April 16, join Mayor Patrick Johnstone on a beautiful nature walk in Victoria Hill and Glenbrook Ravine and chat about park spaces and invasive species!

About the route

This route is approximately 55 minutes and is a 3km loop with some stairs, uneven paths, and moderate hills. 

The walk will begin at Queen's Park Arena and will continue into the Victoria Hill neighbourhood. The walking route will follow the McBride Pedestrian Overpass, and up onto Ross Drive and Blackberry Drive before entering the Glenbrook Ravine trail. After going down Glenbrook Ravine, the walk will follow East Columbia Street and up onto Francis Way, before returning to Queen's Park.

Pier Park Walk and Talk - New Westminster x WALK30

WALK30 continues with BEST and the City of New Westminster so join us for a casual 3.9km (54 mins) accessible walk along the New Westminster's waterfront. Starting at Westminster Pier Park (by the basketball courts) we’ll take in the views of the Fraser River while exploring the newly opened walkway connecting Quayside Dr and Pier Park, ending at New Westminster Skytrain Station.

Meet some new friends, chat with some old ones, and explore an area you maybe haven’t before, all while logging more minutes for the WALK30 challenge!

This walk is free and open to all ages and abilities.

WALK30: Walk with the Mayor

On Wednesday April 22, join Mayor Patrick Johnstone on a beautiful neighbourhood walk in Brow of the Hill! Chat about the protection of renters, density, and affordable housing models—as well as new schools!

About the route

This accessible route is approximately 45 minutes, and is a 2.6km loop with moderate to low grades. 

The walk will begin at Toronto Place Park and continues into the Brow of the Hill neighbourhood. The route will go through Simcoe Park, north on Mowat Street and 11th Street, before heading east on Fifth Avenue. The route continues down Ninth Street before returning to Toronto Place Park. 

As part of the WALK30 Challenge, Mayor Johnstone is hosting weekly walks. Walk different neighbourhoods around New Westminster, chat about the City, and get your steps in! 

Walks take place rain or shine. No registration necessary—just show up at the starting point at the scheduled time.

Queens and Ravine Walk - New Westminster x WALK30

Join BEST and the City of New Westminster for the final WALK30 walk of the month as we explore New Westminster’s urban nature. Starting at the corner of 1st St and 6th Ave, this 3.3km (47 mins) loop will take us through two of the cities most popular urban parks as we experience the urban tree canopy while connecting with each other along the way. This route is relatively flat with some stairs heading uphill out of Glenbrook Ravine Park.

Meet some new friends, have some good chats, all while logging some last minute walking minutes together!

Walk with the NW Mayor for WALK30

On April 8th, join Mayor Johnstone on a scenic walk along the Fraser River in Queensborough and chat about flood preparation, the evolution of industrial to residential areas, and the QtoQ ferry!

This walk begins at the Queensborough QtoQ Komagata Maru ferry dock and follows the Komagata Maru Perimeter Trail before heading north onto the Stanley Street Greenway. It continues east along Ewen Avenue, then north on Furness Street before following the Queensborough Perimeter Trail back to the ferry dock.

This accessible route is approximately 40 minutes and is a 2.6km loop with some uneven surfaces, but generally flat grades.

On April 24, meet in front of the World’s Tallest Tin Soldier near the Fraser River Discovery Centre at 12pm.

 

The route is approximately 22 minutes and 1.5km, concluding at the Quayside Off-Leash Dog Areas at Rialto Court, and it is flat throughout.

On April 21, meet at 11:00 am in front of Century House. The walk will be a route around Moody Park and Uptown. The mayor would like to hear from you on the walkability of Uptown, and chat about what the City is doing to address climate change and make the city more resilient to climate disruption.

The route is a relatively flat loop, approx. 2km and fully accessible.
